FRANKINCENSE — JESUS OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST

Scripture Reading:
Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV) —
“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a
Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”

Frankincense belonged in the temple.
It was precious.
It was sacred.
It was used in worship offered to God alone.

When the magi presented frankincense to Jesus, they were declaring something profound,
whether they fully realized it or not:

This Child is God in the flesh.

Last week, we saw how gold revealed Jesus as King. This week, frankincense reveals Him as Priest and God-with-us.

And we see that truth rooted in prophecy.

Prophecies of the Divine Son

Isaiah foretold His supernatural birth:
Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV) —
“…the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”

Isaiah revealed His divine identity:
Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV) —
“For unto us a Child is born…
And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God…”

Malachi foretold His coming presence:
Malachi 3:1 (NKJV) —
“The Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple…”

Prophecy pointed to this stunning truth:
God was coming near.

Frankincense reminds us of that. Frankincense speaks of worship, holiness, and God’s presence.
It points us to Jesus—our Great High Priest—who intercedes for us, understands us, and walks
with us through every valley and every victory.

Immanuel isn’t just His title—it’s His heart.
God didn’t stay distant.
He drew near.
He stepped into humanity so He could rescue humankind.

This week, let this truth steady your soul:

You are not alone. God is with you, and He is for you.

Reflection Questions:

1. Where do I need to invite Jesus into my life in a more personal way this week?
2. What burdens am I carrying that I need to lay before my High Priest?
3. How can my words and actions rise like worship to God this week?

Closing Prayer:

Father, thank You for sending Jesus—my Savior and my High Priest. Thank You that He
understands me, loves me, and intercedes for me. Draw me close to You this week. Let my life
be a sweet offering in Your presence. Amen
